Cogito international poetry contest 2013 (Edict)



The theme


Article 1 - the COGITO EDITORA by means of this edict opens enrollments to the Cogito international poetry contest 2013.

Sole paragraph- theme is free; each participant will choose his or her own theme.

The Best students’ category 


Article 2 - in addition to the general category, cogito international poetry contest 2013 will reward the best poetry written by the students of public or private school, only if they are attending in secondary education.

Sole paragraph - According to the normalized international classification of education, the secondary education matches to the level 3 of education, in some educational systems it may include level 2.

The enrollments

Article 3 - The Contest enrollments will be opened from August 1 to October 18, 2013.

Article 4 - The Author may participate with only 1 (one) poem, the poem and inscriptions may be written in the followings idioms: Portuguese, English, Italian, French, German, Spanish or Arabic.

Article 5 - Every poem must be reviewed and It should not pass 2(two) pages at all, It must be scanned, 1.5, source Arial, and body 12. It should be right, corrected and reviewed.

Article 6 - The poem will only be accepted if it was unpublished and with an author expressed declaration saying that the text is original.

Article7 - The poem should be indentified with the author's name and his pseudonym, and sent to the e-mail: concursointernacionaldepoesia@gmail.com.

Sole paragraph - We consider the poem unpublished all poems that have never been published or released in the Media. (Including the internet)

Article 8 - The enrollment will cost R$ 30 (thirty Reals) for all authors who will send their poems in Portuguese language and U$ 40 (forty Euros) to the poems in the idioms mentioned in the Article 3 of this edict.

Sole paragraph - students will pay a half of the enrollment R$ 15 (fifteen reals) for He that sends poems in Portuguese language, and U$ 20 (twenty Euros) to the poems in the languages mentioned in the Article 3 of this edict.

Article 9 - The enrollment will only be confirmed after sending the poem with name and author's pseudonym, sending a statement signed by the author, of text originality and the confirmation of payment by means of the deposit slip.

Sole paragraph - For effecting the enrollment as a student, the applicant will have to send a copy of the proof of enrollment, signed by the director of the teaching unit.

Article 10 - Payment of the registration fee will be made only by the deposit in a bank account:  Santander Bank, AG: 3041 - C/C: 01.009210-9.

The Awards

Article 11 - The COGITO EDITORA will grant an honorable mention certificate, and free participation on Focus - poetic anthology VIII and 50 copies of the work.

Article 12 - To the winner's poem author in the category "student", COGITO EDITORA will grant a certificate of honorable mention, and free participation on Focus- poetic anthology VIII and 30 copies of the work.

Sole paragraph - The freight for sending the 50 books of the winner in the "general category" and the 30's in the" students’ category" is not included. The certificate of honorable mention will be sent by e-mail in PDF file.

Article 13 - The COGITO EDITORA will choose the 100 best poems and publish them in its own contest collection entitled COGITO-INTERNATIONAL POETRY ANTHOLOGY which will be released on March 21, 2014 a date that marks the international day of poetry.

Article 14 - The work will be edited in Portuguese, and, the winner's poems written in other languages will be published in their original version.

Sole paragraph - The author participants of such work will receive a copy of the book with freight included. If you are interested to acquire a large amount of books, the copy will be marketed to the author for R$ 10, 00 (ten Reals) or U$ 10(ten Euros) plus freight regard to the sending of the books purchased.


The organization

Article 15 - The COGITO EDITORA CEO, Ivan de Almeida, will be the contest organizer.

The jury

Article 16 - The jury will be chosen by the contest organizer.

Article 17 - The jury will be composed by 5 people: 4 poets of recognized literary value and the last place will be composed by the translators of the six languages of their respective competence.  For the poems in Portuguese, the fifth member of the commission shall be the auditor of the poems. 

Sole paragraph - The jury will have total autonomy in the judgment, which will be governed by originality principles, creativity, domain of the poetry languages and cultural norms.

Article 18 - The jury only will access the poems indentified by the author's pseudonym.

The result

Article 19- The Cogito international poetry result will be released in November 1, 2013.

Article 20- The judgment presented by the jury as to the quality of the selected poems there shall be no appeal.
